Blue Star Museums
Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across America, offering free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve.
The Blue Star Museums Free General Admission
As a participating Blue Star Museum, the SCSM will offer free general admission to active-duty military and up to 5 members of their families from May 18 - Sept. 2, 2024. General admission includes access to all four floors of permanent and changing exhibitions and the observatory. It does not include planetarium and 4d theater tickets, retail or food purchases, after-hours special programs, or museum memberships.
Eligibility Requirements
Free general admission to the South Carolina State Museum is available for those currently serving in the United States Military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps—and up to five family members.
***Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), DD Form 1173-1 ID card or the Next Generation Uniformed Services (Real) ID card when checking in at the Admissions Desk to receive the free general admission offer. ***
